A great personal trainer equals a great person

by Demetrice M. Gates
(College Park, Georgia)

Dear personal training colleagues, in order for us to be great personal trainers we have to be great people. For us to encourage our clients, we have to be encouraged. How can we motivate our clients, if we are not motivated?

Our clients feed off of our energy, so we have to be positive. We can not motivate them if we are depressed and stressed. The majority of them already come to us in those states, so we can not be in it with them. They come to us to lose weight, get in great shape and condition; they also come to us to get motivated, feel good about themselves, relieve stress, and get out of depression.

We are valuable to our clients. We have to let them know that we care about their well being, and that we are not in business just for their money. When people see that you care, they will not only pay you well, but will also bring more potential clients to your business. A caring and great heart draws many people!

Therefore, when we train our clients, let us be in good moods. Goodness is contagious, when our clients see that we are in a good mood, they are going to be in a good mood. We are their motivational role models! We must be excited when we train them! Positive people and positive energy equals a positive environment, and success for our personal training industry.

Remember as personal trainers we are not just important to our clients, but to the world. Stay uplifted!

Great Message

Great message. Motivated trainers do inspire people! I think that a wholistic approach to training is very much needed nowadays. Hopefully, Demetrice's message will encourage trainers and people like me.

My personal trainer
by: Aaron Williams

Demetrice Gates has only been my personal trainer for about two months. I have already exceeded my goals for begining training. Now not only as a trainer to me Demetrice also has instilled in me several traits that have made me a better basketball player as well as a better individual. Through training with him I have become more toned, ripped, and more motivated. Even in public places I constantly recieve compliments on how well I look and how much I have changed. But what has impacted me the most is from training is how he has a desire for his clients improvement, he does not think of himself he is all about me when we are training and that is a trait that cannot be taught. Demetrice and I will continue to train!!!
