ACE Personal Training Certifications
ACE personal training certifications are one of the most highly recognized certifications in the fitness industry. Almost all health clubs recognize an ACE certification. And at $300 to $400, the ACE personal training certifications are a pretty good value.

ACE offers both a general personal training certification as well as specialty certifications including qualifications enabling you to cater to the special needs of:
- Children
- Senior Citizens
- Injured or Disabled
You must pass one of the general personal trainer exams before taking the specialized exams. You have a choice of two general ACE personal training certifications:
- Individual Personal Trainer Certification which enables you to perform one on one instruction with a client
- Group Fitness Instructor Certification which enables you to train groups of clients at the same time
Which certification to choose will depend more on your personality. Hopefully, you have figured out what kind of personal trainer you want to be by completing step one of our Starting a Personal Training Business program. Eligibility Requirements for ACE personal training certifications
You must be:
- at least 18 years old
- Have an adult CPR certification (available online from the Red Cross)
- Additionally, ACE recommends that you have at least 100 hours of practical experience in the health and fitness industry. Easier said than done! (See our insider tips section below on ways to get practical experience).
- And if you are going for an advanced certification, you need to hold one of the basic certifications
