Do I have to get Re-certified as a personal trainer if I move to another state?

(North Reading, MA)

I am training to become a Personal Trainer in Massachusetts but am considering moving to California. If I get certified before I move, will my certification be valid in California? Or will i need to be recertified in CA?

Personal Trainers do not need to be recertified
by: Katie - Admin

There are currently no state regulations affecting personal trainer certification. Unlike being a massage therapist, personal trainers can move between states and not have to change their certification. This is due to the fact that states are currently not regulating the fitness industry much. While there is some pressure to change this, for now we are able to move between states without hassles.

Can any of the Europeans, Aussies, and Canadiens confirm if there are any state/province personal trainer certification legal issues in your country?
