Just wondering what I should expect from EQUINOX FITNESS, CRUNCH, DAVID BARTON, etc. in Chicago as a motivated and qualified novice personal trainer?

I worked in Chicago gyms
by: Anonymous

I was a personal trainer for a year in Chicago and recently moved to Ohio. I made less than $20K but I was part time moonlighting as a law student.

During the first three months during the summer I did really well building a client list of nearly 20 regular clients training 2-3 times a week. I was really getting on a roll then had to focus on school and cut my client list to 7 because of class, court, and studying (booo!!).

I was making $15 per hour trained and during the summer the money was better than any law internship minus the big firms in terms of money. I am getting back into personal training here in Ohio and with no school distractions plan to push to get 15 clients over the next 2 months.

Knowledge is key in this industry coupled with practicing what you preach and taking care of yourself. Look the part and it helps in telling people how fitness can help them. If you don't look like you take care of yourself why would someone want to have you train them?
