high pressure sales

Too much high pressure sales, very high pressure.

$7 flat rate per hour, how can we expect to pay off college loans on this, fast food wages?

REQUIRED to sell overpriced supplements that have little/no benefit, pressured to make false claims about them.

Too many "roid heads" trainers with impressive bodies that are underskilled, "AXE" them physiology questions and they are stumped.

Waaaay over staffed on trainers, they overhire and see who can sell the most training.

I absolutely agree

Man, I couldn't of said it better myself. I had the exact same experience. Quantity over quality is there motto. I like to refer to them as the "McDonalds of Fitness"

Sales..first....training....ummm..what training?
by: Anonymous

I was one of the top 10 trainers in the CCD (Central California Division). 24hrs is all about sales and individual revenue. SELL more supplements your clients don't need.... SELL more training to the uneducated, through ANY means..

With that in mind, why work for someone else? if your new to the personal training world than i would recommend using 24hr as on the job training and to build you client base.

Overall i HATED working there because the company made it next to impossible to be a good TRAINER and make a living.... and they wanted me to SELL more supplements ;)

Yes and No
by: Anonymous

24hr is just like all the commercial gyms, are all about making money. You are not a PT. You are a car salesman

Most in house trainers i see, are usually fat, and most dont even look like they workout. You think they actually care??? NOPE

Used cars
by: Anonymous

I was a sales manager for 24 Hour Fitness. We used to actually hire used car salesmen to sell memberships for us. Lots of customers used to complain to me about our horrible and sleazy (and possibly illegal) sales tactics.

Lets be real guys
by: Anonymous

Guys its really not that bad. I worked for them and did quite well. The managers left me alone the clients stayed with me and I won every contest I could get my hands on. The trainers I worked with were top notch, not a bunch of cookie cutters if you know what I mean. I made a good start for myself working there. The only reason I left is because the new manager they put in place wanted me to adhere to NASM protocol, and that is cool, just not for me. I left with no hard feelings and opened up a training facility in one of those office warehouse spaces. It is working very well. Good luck

Let's be real?
by: Anonymous

The one thing that stands out in "let's be real guys" comments is that he LEFT 24 Hour Fitness. They are supposed to adhear to the stupid NASM protocol. Therefore, his former manager before quitting was technically not doing his/her "job" when he was doing well before he opened up his new facility. I've spoken to lots of former 24 Hour Fitness trainers who didn't complain much about it being such a crappy company because they all left before they barely got started!

Wow

I'm sure glad I found this web site. I was actually contemplating working for 24 hour. I guess I will look elsewhere for employment.... maybe golds?

Im glad I found this site

I applied to work with 24 and expect a call anyday from the manager... I have already had an interview. After spending so much time prepping for the NSCA cert, the manager there told me that I needed NASM and that most gyms wont take you unless you had it. I have always favored NSCA so I think I will just stick with that.
