What do you think about their personal training certification program and what about the association with the associates to PhD?

Better than the rest
by: Tommy

Hey Wendell,

AS far as their certifications go, they are the best. I was certified with two other certification companies and I already was personal trainer certified but I decided I wanted to take the IFPA's PT and I learned 10times as much in their PT than the other two combined. I am only taking IFPA certs from now on. I recently took their consulting specialist cert to recertify and it has helped me out so much. If you already have a PT Cert and are just checking them out to get a different certification, go for the consulting specialist.
I cant help you out with the degree program. I'm not taking it but I would bet alot that its just as good or better than everything else they do.

Enjoying
by: Sherwood

I haven't taken IFPA as of yet. But I am enjoying studying the material for it. It's scientific yet they make it easy to understand which will make you a better Personal Trainer. It's like they are trying to make sure you retain it and utilize it. Rather than just study it so you pass the test. It isn't explained so complicated that it goes in one ear and out the other, meaning you're not retaining it.
Bottom line I'm enjoying it.

Jim Bell, PhD Candidate Forever
by: Anonymous

I think that the fact that Jim bell, the President of IFPA, refers to himself as having a PhD degree in his literature tells it all. If you do your homework, you'll see that, alternately, he refers to himself as a PhDc (PhD Candidate -- apparently an abbreviation that he made up). He's been a candidate for many years but, occasionally, a brochure or program announcement slips out annointing him as a PhD (a printing error, I'm sure -- the same error -- year after year). This guy is trying to make himself look better than he is. Does that tell you anything about the the ethics of his organization? I'm just asking.
