In-home training: The Newest Trend?
by Heather Holtschlag

There are a number of people out there who want the help of a personal trainer and all that goes with having a trainer supervise their workouts...safety, individualized workouts that meet their needs, learning proper form, and for some, the feeling of being "obligated" to a trainer to workout.
For many, however, the feeling of going into a gym or personal training studio is overwhelming and scary. They prefer the comfort and security of working out in their homes, where no one except the trainer will see them, and if they perform an exercise wrong, they can be corrected without feeling intimidated.
In-home personal training is growing by leaps and bounds. The feeling clients get from getting in their daily exercise, and being able to do that from the comfort of their own home, is the icing on the cake. An advantage for trainers is that there's no excuses from their clients. What excuse could a client have for not being able to workout at home? Unless they're sick, or have a sick child, the trainer is unlikely to see last-minute cancellations, something commonly experienced at gyms.
The disadvantage for the client, of course, is having to travel to each client's house, with their equipment in tow, but that is small compared to the excitement the clients express when they see results and are happy enough with their trainer that they start making referrals.
In-home training will continue to grow. People want convenience. They want comfort and a sense of control. And they know that exercise is healthy, but may not have the least bit of an idea as to where to begin. All of this can make for a huge opportunity for a personal trainer.
