I am wondering what you think about the personal trainer certification but don't see it listed on the site. Can you tell me if it is a reputable certification?

Hi I just completed my certification in Personal training & nutritional specialists. I'm certified by US Career Institute. I heard that it's a good certification but i never see them when people give lists of different certifications. Have you ever heard of them?

There are many ripoffs out there. I had the same problem. My concern was not how well the program was accepted, but only if the insurance company accepted the program.

All the popular programs have a 2 or 3 day session that you attend and get certified. Not to discredit them but a 3 day session does not a trainer make...and really any trainer worth it's salt will tell you that.

Study, learn, experience, and observe!!!
Just know your stuff...Be able to do what you say. Keep up with scientific study: I've heard some programs say along with giving demos. "Stretch before you do the exercise." That's old school for now its "warm-up before and stretch afterwards. They're not following the research. I've even seen videos where the exercise was done incorrectly. These are things that YOU need to know.

"Strength Training Anatomy," by Frederic DeLavier put out by Human Kinetics, is the best book that I have found on learning correct procedures and muscles used. Teaching in the school system, I got insurance through the school, but now that I am moving into my own Personal training business, I need insurance to cover this so I took the cheapest certification I could find that the insurance company would recognize.

Remember the movie "Karate Kid" It's kinda like that. He didn't have a belt, which he needed to enter the contest, so he procured one. Remember though, He knew his stuff......
Good Luck
