Lifetime Fitness recomended NASM certification

by Molly
(Minnesota)

I live a couple miles from a Lifetime fitness club, which I love. I am a chiropractic student and wanted to get a head start on the personal training side of wellness care that I will incorporate in my practice, as well as get myself into top shape. I was told that lifetime would prefer a NASM certification over all others. They have a pretty well respected program, so I am excited to get started.

My experience is that every gym will tell you something different even if they are part of a big chain. Some managers have preference for certain programs because they have had experience with them in the past. There are so many certs that the managers couldn't possibly compare and contrast them. But the reality is they want somebody who can hit the ground running and make money for them regardless of the cert.

Almost all gyms accept NASM. ACSM and ACE are also good. Your knowledge of the body as a chiropractic student will serve you well as a trainer. Most gyms expect a certain amount os sales too so expect that!

Do they have there own program to get CPT or do you need a prior CPT before getting accepted?
