Meal Planning Software

by Coty
(Eugene, Oregon)

Hi, I am looking for a reliable and easy to use meal planning software program? Any suggestions out there on the best programs? Thanks!

ANSWER:

As you can see from the string of suggestions below, there are a lot of meal planning programs out there. But you really need to be careful about using software to prepare plans on behalf of clients. This exceeds the scope of practice for a personal trainer and can expose you to a lot of liability.

That being said, you can grant your client access so they can safely develop their own nutritional plan that matches their overall personal training goals.

But none of the meal planning software options listed below could do this. So we decided to build our own as part of our Complete Training System for Personal Trainers.

Now all of your clients can get a personalized portal with all of their goals and a dashboard measuring their progress. The meal planning is based upon the USDA Food Pyramid and the client (not you) can quickly create custom meal plans that track the nutritional value and calories consumed.

That is important because the calories consumed need to fit into your overall calorie deficit plan and integrate with the workout tracking. We have done this with the Complete Training System. The client can see what they have eaten and how many calories they have burned to track their ACTUAL CALORIE DEFICIT. This is the piece that only the Complete Training System can do and none of the other packages.

Sorry if this sounds like an advertisement. I am just proud of what we have built. Your clients will love it and you can easily charge them for the service which turns the software expense into a profit center for your business.

You can try it free and decide for yourself.

MEAL PLANNING SOFTWARE INDEED?
by: Niggle

Mr. Eugene

It would be difficult to find a meal planning software, if not totally impossible. Just collect information on food and beverages and what not to mix with what and save it in a reminder software.

Should do you good.

Theres always new research and new discoveries about different food. I doubt if theres anyone designing a software with so much information.

Perhaps your best option is Food or Meal Encyclopedia.

Meal Planning Software

I've been using Vitabot for myself and my clients. It's easy and fun to use, gives great data, and it holds people accountable to what they are putting in their mouth. This software is a expensive if you're an independent contractor but works well for a club setting. They have a demo you can go through on their website: www.vitabot.com Check it out!

Free web based softward
by: Liz

DinnerBeat (www.DinnerBeat.com) is free, web based software that could easily be used by a personal trainer who is developing meal plans for clients. You can use a central Recipe Box to create a separate, personal meal plan for each client. Just create an account for you and then for each client, connect them to your account as a "friend," schedule their meals, then give them a copy of the username and password so they can see the recipes.

Plan to Eat
by: Meal Planning Mommy

I would recommend a website called plan to eat. You can import recipes from recipes websites and you just drag your recipes to a planner and it makes your shopping list categorized into shopping store categories. You can also share your recipes with friends. It cost $40 a year but I figure I save way more than that (especially stress) when I use it each week.

Nutritionally Sound, Portion Based Plan
by: Anonymous

I have two questions about any nutritional meal plan software: One, is it portion based or restriction based? Two, What is the user experience…is the software attractive and comfortable for folks to use? I’ve found software designed for professional licensing and a user-friendly, responsible, experience. After examining many websites claiming this-and-that, one stands among the most reputable and well organized. The folks at Simplefit.net have done their homework. They own several sites and leverage many of them to help the consumer and commercial arena’s alike.
