More Focused With Sales Than Service

Unfortunately, as the company has evolved over the years, it has become more and more money focused. I've worked for them for almost 10 years and started as a personal trainer and left as a general manager.

It is a decent place for a startup career BUT unless you are able to be recruited/hired by a competent team leader, most of your "functional" skills will be self learned. They've done away with a lot of their hand-ons (5 day personal training classes) and have chosen the 16hr internet route with a 2 day wrap up class about 1-2 months later.

Many of their leaders of the fitness dept are quite competent as instructors, BUT many have earned their spots more due to their sales records rather than their science.

In terms of compensation, a trainer (depending on credentials and experience) will take between 12-31% of the fees. a session can cost between $33-$80. However, they've been famous for constant restructuring of compensation plans (maybe every 1-2 years) so consistency of pay may not be 100% secure.

If you can't do your own thing, then maybe they're okay to start with, BUT I wouldn't do it again.
