NCSF compared to ACE and ACSM

by Alex Huddleston
(Missouri)

I am currently studying with the Home Study program from the National Council on Strength and Fitness. I am trying to decide which organization to get my personal training certification through. I know of ACE and ACSM. Is the NCSF certification as credible as these others? I am currently a Junior in college majoring in Exercise Science so I feel confident that I can pass the exams, I just don't know which one to take. Thanks, Alex

NCSF is a well respected certification
by: Katie - Admin

NCSF is probably somewhere between ACE and ACSM. But remember this is all subjective. Some gyms heavily favor one certification over another because the hiring manager has a particular favorite. ACE is the light weight of the bunch. Easy to get. ACSM is the toughest and most respected of the three. You will probably do fine on ACSM with your degree work but you may need to review some topics before taking the test. And remember you can pick up multiple certifications by taking more than one exam.

Good Luck!
