No mention of The Cooper Institute Certification programs

by Gary Benkendorf
(North Richland Hills, Texas )

I live in the Dallas Fort Worth area of Texas. Regarding other Certifying bodies which are worthy of note. As you may or may not know, Dr. Cooper, personal physician of ex-president George Bush and author who coined the phrase "Aerobics"; has had for years now, a successful series of Personal Training certification courses at the Cooper Institute in Dallas. I see no mention of this in your comparisons.

I realize there are many courses out there, but the Cooper courses are by no means fly-by-night courses that easily obtainable. You might look into this. Otherwise you have done a good job of noting very reputable certifiying organizations to the Fitness and wellness indutsry.

Best regards, Gary Benkendorf,CPT

Lots of Cooper talk
by: Katie - Admin

Hi Gary, there is actually a lot of talk around the site on Cooper. We just haven't done a full review of the program. This is due to the fact that Cooper only has a very limited appeal due to regional constraints. If you don't live in the Dallas area, Cooper is not really a viable option unless you are willing to travel.

We do point Texas residents toward Cooper as an option when they submit requests for help becoming personal trainers in our email service.

so you know...
by: Anonymous

All branches of the U.S. Military follows the physical fitness standards set by the Coopers Institute. I have been in for 20 years, and am a Master Trainer for a branch and we got out to Dallas once a year to stay certified on the latest and greatest info. Anyway, it might be interresting to know by the general public that the military trust the CI and has for over 20 years.

BEST Training for CPT
by: PJ

I am looking for a CPT course that is not the fastest, the cheapest but the course that would train me best. I don't live in Texas but have heard a lot about the Cooper Institute. I have looked at some of their info online and it looks really good. I would have to take the online course but would be happy to travel to Dallas for the test....if this is the best way to go. I would like to hear comments from others on this. THANKS
