No One Will Hire Me! WHY?

Hi,

I have no experience as a trainer, but I hold 2 certifications and a BBA in marketing, I have 3 years of experience in sales and 2 years in marketing. I am very professional, but also personable and outgoing. I have 6 years of martial arts experience, played soccer in high school and college, and now I compete in triathlons.

Despite all this, no one will hire me! (I've had 4 interviews this month)

I can't help but think it's because I'm short, skinny and wear glasses.

What do you think? Would gym managers/owners really not hire me because I'm not HUGE like all the other male trainers I see everywhere?

Thanks everyone. Your advice and feedback is much appreciated.

Sorry to hear that you're not getting hired. It may truly be that you were just not a fit for their gym or on the other hand they want you to " look the part" of a trainer. You may think of considering dialing in on your nutrition and adding some muscle and projecting a more "fit" image. When clients hire a trainer they are visual and do want to look at someone who looks like they live the lifestyle that they want to live. Just a thought

No need to be huge

Yeah, I understand all that. Since writing my post, I've learned about triathlon training clubs and USAT coaching certification programs. So I'm going to become a triathlon coach and cater to my fellow triathletes.

no one will hire...

you must need either of the following "makeovers"
1) interview skills? have you assessed them in an honest way?
If so, perhaps you need a new pair of more stylish glasses or clothing?
2) It may be that your resume says that you are in the market for a salary/income that they will not be able to support. So, they will not hire you thinking that you may bolt for a better job.
3) try to find areas of the industry that will appreciate your education and discipline.
don't quit on YOU..it sounds like you are a good hire!
