Security Cameras

by Jp
(Detroit, MI)

I am about to begin an in-home training business. I have been warned about false accusation that can occur and was advised to have cameras installed in my home. Is this something you recommend or do you think this would be a waste of time and money? Thank you so much for your help with this site, company and this field!!

Security Cameras
by: Fitness Lawyer -- Charles C. Weller

Security cameras are sometimes a wise decision, but you need to check with your state's privacy laws. Be sure to disclose in writing to clients that you have security cameras on the premises. Just be sure not to have cameras in any restrooms/bathrooms or that sort of thing (I know it seems like common sense, but I need to mention it as it would be deemed an invasion of privacy under any state law). Of course, always make sure to have a lawyer review your contracts and disclosures you make to your clients to ensure that you are properly protected.
