Training a friend for free

by Suzann Albanese
(Springfield, VA 22153)

I am a certified personal trainer through NASM. I do not have liability insurance any more as the company I worked for decided to close down. THey had the insurance which covered me. I do have a friend/client who wants to continue training. Can I train her for free without being legally liable since I am not charging her and do not have insurance?

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration,

Price you charge does not matter

Performing any action can lead to a lawsuit despite not charging money. You should get insurance. You can get a good policy for about $120 per year. Have your friend buy it for you.
