I think NASM would be a great cert for sports performance training. I also have a BA in Communication but have since switched over into the personal training field b/c its what I love to do. I currently have the NESTA cert, but NASM is about to be my next venture. Good luck.

This is too funny. I'm also in the media looking to change careers. I've always loved fitness and just started my research on certification. Good luck to us all!

I too have a Comm BA and have been in marketing and sales since I could work! I am bored to death of it and need a change of pace and I am strongly thinking about the fitness field. I enjoy the outdoors and staying active and am always looking for healthy recipes to whip up in the kitchen! Which is the best certification to get?

NASM prepares you to work with sedentary and conditioned populations only. Since you have BAs, consider NSCA's CSCS certification. That certification is for sports trainers and require a bachelor's degree. NASM is a popular certification that is relatively easy to get compared to NSCA's certs.

NASM Strength and Conditioning Cert is Gold
by: LifeofaFighter.com

So I am usually an ISSA guy but working for UFC Gym Corporate I was certified with their NASM MMA Conditioning program and it was probably the BEST program when just looking at the training aspect. Between Functional Movement Assessments, program building, modalities and more they cover it head to toe. If you haven't already def go for NASM cert for conditioning!
