NASM Study Material Guidance Help?

by Daniel
(CA)

I have read a decent amount of the comments on this page. I am looking at buying the $699paxkage through the NASm website.

Any other study advice would be greatly appreciated, I am excited and a little anxious about the investment cost.

I just really want a solid study plan before I purchase the test package.

Thank You in advance for any advice,

Daniel

Study advice

I am studying to take ACE exam , not the NASM, so I can't comment on the study materials as the best choice for you. However, I can share with you what I had found EXTREMELY helpful during my study process (since you asked). I am sure the study methods used can be applied regardless of who will be certifying you.

I HIGHLY suggest that you write your own flash cards to supplement your study!

I have tested my knowledge/memory without having written/used flash cards by taking a sample ACE exam and realized that I needed to go back to my old method of studying/retaining info-and that is writing my own flash cards and then using them.

I have always done it before and am glad I decided to do it again in my praparation for this exam. Without it, you think you'll remember the material when you are done with the book, but, most likely, you will not.

So, DO IT! You will be glad you did.

Just passed the NASM
by: John

Daniel:

Get the $699 deal. The book itself is a very high quality textbook of the kind that would cost at least $100. in college.

Making your own flashcards is great. I would do a card for each exercise mentioned in the chapters and list the phase it's used in, regression/progression, what it's used for, and which muscles are used.

The test would have been simpler for me if I had done that.

I've got someone at NASM you can call to answer all your questions. Let me know.

CPT EXAM PREP AND FLASHCARDS
by: Anonymous

I purchased it(well the entire premier package). I believe it to be very beneficial. It has 100 flashcards for each module that do mix up every time you look through them and occasionally you can even get some new ones. You also get a 25 question quiz for each module for a total of 400 flashcards/questions and 100 quiz questions for a total of 500 plus the practice exam which puts you at 620 questions made by NASM and given to you in a very similar format. I am taking my test in 2 days and feel extremely confident in my ability to pass with a 90% or better.

Wish you the best of luck and I'll let everyone know how I did come Monday night

I just wanted to tell everyone I passed. The test was so much easier than I thought. But I did study a lot and have had a lot of success in school. I suggest purchasing the premier package. It literally gives so much information that will be on the test. Got an interview tomorrow, Good luck everyone!

Which NASM product package is best?

by Meg
(VABEACH)

I have no problem paying for the Premier package, if it's worth it! I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on which is the best value. I'm fit and healthy but also new to the field so I was leaning toward getting the most material possible. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!!

Certification Package
by: Anonymous

I just took the exam today and passed first try! My advice would be to go for the package that at least has the workshop included. However I WILL be getting the hfpn membership soon but I was going to wait until I passed the exam. I'm not sure how much of a deal it is with the package anyway. The workshop definitely helped me with passing the exam and if you do opt to do the workshop I would study ALL the material first and then do the workshop about a week you take the exam.

Good Luck!

NASM Certification and workshop location
by: Anonymous

Hi: I'm thinking to buy a NASM certification course but don't know which one is the best choice. The one with the workshop or not. I'm from Puerto Rico and don't know where should I take that. I spoke with a representative and told me the best deal was without the workshop. But reading your posts now I'm confused.

NASM flashcards - are they helpful

by Toni
(New Jersey)

Hello,
I am getting ready to take the NASM CPT exam. I purchased the flashcard bundle and am wondering if anyone else has used them to prep for the exam? I am taking the practice exam every day, last attempt I scored a 92% as well as going through all of the flashcards daily (there are 300 I think) I am planning on calling tomorrow to set the date for the exam and feel pretty confident, looking for others thoughts on this
