Personal Trainer Salary in Oregon

I work as a trainer in a gym in Oregon. Depending on the amount of certs you have and your experience, we make up to 35% of the amount you charge per session each hour you train. You also make 10% commission on your sale of the training and supplements. Overall that gets me to close to $40,000 per year.

Negotiation

My most important question is "Are you happy with that pay scale or are you content with your wage"? There are ways to make more money than 40K. Are you an employee or contracted? How many sessions are you training per week? Can you train 2-4 clients at the same time to earn more money as a personal trainer. The name of the game is "leverage".

working for school district
by: Anonymous

If you can be a personal trainer and be employed by a school district, it would be a great job. Schools usually offer great benefits and a decent salary (not high). But you can then train clients outside of school hours to make extra money. There is probably an endless supply of teachers who will need your services.
