Beware Corporate vs Franchise Gold's Gym

(Texas)

I worked for a Dallas franchise of Gold's Gym and they are very disorganized! Little to no training. You never know who to ask if there is a a question. They make promises of big dollars to be made. The trainers are running all over each other calling duplicate lists. Poor customer service to irritate the customers calling people that are already training. I am still hoping to get paid for all the hours I worked.

Not so Golden

by Eric
(NY NY)

Ive worked for many gyms in the past six years. Gold's was one of them. It wasnt that glamorous and you dont get much experience.

If you are new try and work for a YMCA or a corporate facility. In a YMCA youll get to work with clients of all aspects to see what you like. Youll get the MAXIMUM experience while working for them. youll also learn how to run a better business than if you worked for a commercial site

Worst job ive ever had

by Anonymous
(Omaha, NE)

The Golds I worked for was a franchise location in Omaha, NE. The owner runs 4 Golds and the entire company is a joke. The "corporate office" is the owner sitting in front of his computer looking down on everyone from his perch.

The pay is mediocre, literally no work life balance, filthy conditions, and just an overall disaster. The year I worked for Golds was the worst time in my life. I resigned as a manager and two days before my resignation took affect I was terminated on a made up circumstance. The owner just wanted the satisfaction of me leaving on his terms. All the employees and managers ive talked to hate their jobs and are constantly telling the owner what he wants to hear instead of the truth. I really cant stress enough how terrible this place is. Stay far away and you will be much happier and not have wasted a part of your life.

Harbor Country is the Worst!!!!!

by Mike Michelakis
(New Buffalo, Michigan, USA)

I can tell you from first hand experience that Gold's Gym Harbor Country is the worst run facility in the entire world!!! I was a trainer there for two years in the mid 2000's. While the desk staff was decent and the aerobics staff was good, the management and ownership was horrible!!! They didn't want to maintain their facilities, despite having Hammer Strength equipment. If they wanted you out, they would accuse you of stealing their money. Trust me, though I miss the good members that belong to the gym, I am glad my clients and I found a new home down the road.

They now have a trainer that is NOT even certified. Talk about your liability issues.
