NASM Questions

I am planning to take the NASM test within the next 5 months and have a few questions.

On the NASM review page, it says after I enroll, i have to take the test within 120 days. What do you mean by enroll? Does it mean that if i buy the materials, i have to take the test within 120 days?

Second, It also says that "You can take the exam for $500. Or you can take the exam and get some study materials for $499! That's a tough choice!". What kind of materials will i get????

Take the test within 120 days
by: Katie - Admin

Yes, you must take the NASM exam within 120 days of purchasing their program. You can pay a fee to get an extension. So wait until you are actually ready to start studying before buying their cert program.

Or do it on your time frame
by: Anonymous

There is another option if you need or want more time to study. Just purchase the books from an outside source and study. When you are ready for the test then just purchase the test option only. This way you don't have to study on their time frame and feel pressured to get it all done in 120 days. If you have limited time to study each day due to job/family/life commitments this might be a better option. You can find the text book, study guide, dvd's etc etc on ebay or amazon.

NASM CPT only a written test?
by: Anonymous

I am seriously considering studying and taking the test as well...but I was wondering...is becoming a CPT mean you JUST take a written test? This is confusing to me, because it would seem you would require more practical knowledge than answering a bunch of questions.

Know how to train others.
by: Anonymous

Yes, there is a lot more involved in being a CPT than just taking a test. You actually should have some practical knowledge of Anatomy,Physiology, Chemistry, Bio-Mechanics and how to apply those principles in everyday life. I could go on, but; there is no reason too. Know your stuff before you try and start TEACHING others.
