When they first launched three years ago we had several people from this site get their certification. We were impressed by the textbook and the live online instructor workshops. You can read our review here.

But you should really decide for yourself. If you register for their free basic plan you can download their 300 page book and start studying without giving your credit card.

Also, as of Jan 2014 they earned full NCCA Accreditation.

I got certified by ACTION for free a few months ago and I can tell you their theory textbook is a solid introduction to exercise science and program design. If you are either an experienced trainer or someone really knowledgeable in the theory and sciences, you'll find the textbook pretty basic. The test is plenty challenging so you do need to study or know your stuff. I'm very sure ACTION will soon be NCCA accredited so its only a matter of time.

ACTION is a very legitimate certification test and is almost recognized by the NCCA. On their website action cleared up some very minor issues and hope to have everything cleared this year.
