Not what I expected

I took the Can-Fit Pro Personal Trainer course. It was not at all what I expected. There were too many students shoved into a small room. Plus we were expected to bring our own chairs!!!

The course did not touch upon anyone who may have injuries etc. For that you would have to take another course!!

I have yet to write the test and I am not sure if I will. If you have a background in kinesiology, or something similar then the course should be a breeze. For someone like me with little background other than my own personal experiences in a gym I found the course should have provided additional study material that would have been helpful in preparing for the test.

I feel that you get what you pay for. It is a recognized company and I'm sure that there are a lot of people who have excelled in the industry.
It would be interesting to find out if others feel this way.

not what i expected

I totally agree that the Can-Fit-Pro course is not what it what i expected. The course goes over material so quickly, and everything is so rushed, that you walk out of the course very confused if you don't have any additional education (kinesiology, etc).

My Can-Fit-Pro exam is coming up in three weeks, and I'm quite nervous and anxious about it. I've already paid for the exam, but I'm thinking of just dropping it, and taking this course with a different company. One that actually supplies students with more material and resources. Canfit pro has NO resources online for students if they need additional help or questions.

Courses can be a rewarding experience
by: Happy with Course

I think it is essential that people realize that not all Can-Fit-Pro courses are the same in delivery as they are taught by different instructors who bring their own unique experiences and teaching skills into the course. Before registering for a course ask the instructor for past student referrals, or ask others in the fitness industry who they may recommend. A "quality" instructor can inject enthusiasm, humour, first hand experiences and an empathetic and supportive attitude into the classroom. They will go above and beyond for the students and become part of their process of success by individualizing the learning process as much as possible for each student. The PTS course can be an amazing learning opportunity!

Just my 2 cents!

I am truly sorry that you gentleman happen to end up somewhere where you had to bring your own chairs, get cramped into a small class and did not recive any addtional study material.

Next time, take the course at Ryerson University...you'll see the difference! Ask someone who has taken it there.

Just my 2 cents!

HMMMMmmmmm

the online course you are talking about is that the 10 hour online that is part of the can fit pro course?..if so, then don`t bother, it`s multiple choice and it requires you to put in wrong answers to get a correct mark...it`s so mickey mouse and backwards, it`s not worth the time.

Can Fit Pro - Waist of Time and Money

Totally agree, we where 16 students sitting on the floor. In a nutshell - Can Fit Pro = "Legal" Scam.

It is what it is.
by: Cyberhick

As for Crammed classrooms and sitting on the floor, this is no way to study and is unacceptable! You have the right as a paying customer to complain and demand a class change or extensions. As for the material being too hard or not hard enough, it is acceptable across the industry and meets similar requirements to other certs. Lets get real here, Ace, Nasm, and others of the same ilk don't require copious amounts of savvy to pass the exams. Canfit at least requires a practical that puts you in a setting that requires you to perform.

I'm not advocating the PTS cert, but they are what they are. Each and every cert that you seek in the Personal trainer forum will require that you gain experience and extra knowledge on your own.(no different then a University degree. It teaches you how to research and acquire knowledge)
I've seen S&C coaches who are completely clueless, I've seen pro sport teams completely de-conditioned at the start of a season,(Montreal Canadiens prime example two years running) Their Star defenceman Markov suffered an over-training issue during rehabilitation from acl surgery.

All of these certs are a gateway to the fitness industry, advance and enhance your education by studying and keeping atop of the latest fitness trends. To know what not to do, watch Jillian Michaels videos!
