NPTI Philadelphia

I recently attended the open house for NPTI in Phila. and I'm not sure if it is worth the money. $6300. Has anyone else attended their open house and decided to go elsewhere? Did the fact that they offer a diploma and not a certification play a part in your decision? Does anyone currently attend this particular school and if so, how do you feel about it. If past graduates would post their experience that would be greatly appreciated.

Is this a recent post? I was thinking about checking out the Phila one myself but after seeing this with no response it kind of worries me.

Also, I thought all of the schools had a certification. The Phila one doesn't?

NPTI Philly is a great school! I am a student there, and i absolutely loveee it! And the diploma means that you dont have to renew your certificate every year, you will always have it.

Fun and Informative
by: Cappy

I'm also a student here and have only 2 months to go before we graduate. They have a success in placing students because we do class work, practical, and demonstration. They also have guest speakers who come (previous students) that have successful business. It's a good school for hands on. I recommend it totally.

Which NPTI location is the best?

by K
(Orlando)

Is there any difference between the NPTI schools in different locations? I'm considering Portland and Orlando. It looks like there are more instructors in Portland, but is there any difference in the quality between the two schools?

Portland Baby!!!
by: Ruby

Go to Portland with Erik Wiest!!! I obtained my NPTI diploma doing the night class in Raleigh, NC with Alan Wiest (Erik's Twin Brother). My experience was awesome!

All in all I would say that as you evaluate your options really look at the practical portion of the programs. After all I belive the practical portion is what makes NPTI stand out from other certifications. So what demands do the practical potions have at each school? How do the instructors challenge students to become better and innovative trainers, etc?

Good luck with your decision!

Portland
by: Tim

I am currently attending the portland school and you should definitely go to the Portland school. Arik Weist is a fantastic instructor who is very knowledgable with tons of experience. Not only that but the practical instructor Billy Pappas is awesome. Was kinda skeptical about the program at first but, now its one of the best descision I have made. And trust me if you are looking for a serious education in personal training this is it!

Questions about NPTI in Norwalk CT

by Jim
(Connecticut)

1. Has anyone attended NPTI in Norwalk, CT? Could you describe your experience there, please?

2. Is the NPTI certification earned in one state valid in another state? For example, I am currently living in CT, but may return to Seattle, WA one day. I know there is an NPTI school in Seattle, so I'm curious to know if my certification earned in CT would be recognized in WA. (There are reasons I plan to get my certification in Norwalk before moving to Seattle.)

Thanks in advance for your help!

NPTI is no joke. the course was well taught by a great teacher. i went to the Rochester Hills, MI location and the instructor knew her shit! Shannon Bennett was the reason i succeeded. well worth the cost of the course and i would recommend this course to anyone who is considering this field.

the practical gym time was challenging. definitely prepared myself for working with clients.

N.P.T.I Orlando Florida campus

by Robert Williams
(Orlando Florida)

It was a wonderful experience attending N.P.T.I as I learned so much including the inner workings of ,Muscles Heart and bones etc...how they actually work ,200 hours of hands on training plus 300 hours of Theory ,it has been eye opening to go in Gyms like Golds and see how little many personal trainers actually know ,its scary ,However i have recently been hired by a strength and conditioning coach to work under his wing and begin training many clients some professional athletes

Accreditation Status - NPTI Colorado

(Denver, Colorado)

NPTI Colorado ... Learn to become a trainer in the Rocky Mountains!

NPTI Colorado ... Learn to become a trainer in the Rocky Mountains!

First of all, I want to thank you for your great website and your mention of NPTI Colorado. A lot has changed here and I thought you would want to know as it might substantially change the already informative information your website has regarding NPTI Colorado.

We are the ONLY fully accredited NPTI location. As of September 9, we are fully accredited by NCA / CASI / AdvanceED. Please see

http://www.advanc-ed.org/oasis2/u/par/accreditation/summary?institutionId=13395

We now have formal relationships with these nationally recognized certifying agencies and we teach their coursework as part of our elective program (also exclusive to NPTI Colorado and no other NPTI location):

NASM - both Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) and Performance Exercise Specialist (PES)
NSCA - Tactical Strength and Conditioning (TSAC)
IKFF - Level 1 Kettlebell Instructor
AAHF - Training Older Adults
KickFit - Kickfit group training
HeartZones - Cardio programming; Heart Zones Training

We are constantly adding more elective courses. We are also teaching an in-house, internal course on "Starting a Personal Training Business" and "Group X / Boot Camp".

In fact, our course is now 600 hours and $6,995.00 (unlike the other NPTI locations). The AdvancED accreditation is international. We scored in the top 4% of 27,000 schools.

We regularly promote your website and advise our students and graduates to check it out and use as a basis of understanding the difference certifications, education standards, etc.

I hope that you have found this to be useful.

Phil

NPTI Colorado Is Not Recognized by NASM

I called NASM and they do not recognize NPTI Colorado. NPTI Colorado is not listed on the NASM website of approved schools. Only two schools in Colorado are listed on the NASM website http://www.nasm.org/findaschool/Default.aspx?__taxonomyid=583&path=%5cAcademic+Partner+Locator%5cColorado&#results

NASM does work with and recognize NPTI-CO
by: Brad Tucker

NASM does recognize and work with NPTI-CO as a school that provides their students access to NASM education and NASM certifications as a part of their enrollment.

We are in the process of redoing our Attend a School section on our website and upon completion will have NPTI-CO listed as a partner school.

Thanks for keeping an eye out for schools who may be falsely representing themselves as a partner of NASM. In this case however, we do acknowledge that we work with NPTI-CO.

Thank you.

Waste of 7k (NPTI Colorado)
by: Anonymous

This school is a waste of money. They do not deliver what they promise, they are unprofessional, disorganized and their idea of hands on experience is free play in a park like fifth graders.

*** editor's note: unsubstantiated accusation removed, please follow forum guidelines ***

This is a poorly run institution. This place will not help you pass any real certification test and employers do not view anything you do here as real life experience. Waste of money and time!

Npti of Colorado is a load of BS
by: Wallywest

This "School" is a fraud. I don't even know where to start, most of the things on their page they claim to achieve for there students are false. An example would be "Get in the best shape of your life while attending school" yeah right. Our first two months we didn't workout a single time, now we workout once or twice a week, I checked out the school in Florida and they literally got in the best shape of their life in just four months. This school is six months and I am now in the worst shape of my life since being here because I have no time to workout anymore.

I recently found out that most of the assignments and homework we are given aren't even for a grade, its just busy work to get us through the day. The curriculum and syllabus change ALLLL the time. They never know what their going to teach us, they just make stuff up on the spot. The ONLY reason I still attend is so my pell grant doesn't get dropped, I've learned enough teaching myself outside of school that I know I can get certified right now.

Don't fall for this scam, wasting my money and time on this school is one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. Just get a real certification and learn as you work don't listen to the President of the school, All he is doing is throwing out a bunch of big names to trick you like he tricks all his students, and like he tricked the NCCA into accrediting his school.

terrible education
by: Anonymous

If I would have wrote this a few months ago I would have felt bad for Phil. Him and Jen at first seemed like nice people when I met them and started attending school. But I realized they were frauds and don't care about anyone but themselves after coming to each of them professionally about things that were wrong with their school and being shot down and INSULTED, Yes literally insulted, like who do you think you are? I paid seven grand for this place, I practically wrote part of your paycheck and you're going to insult me? This school is unprofessional, disorganized, and definitely doesn't deserve accreditation or even deserves a single student. During orientation we were told we have three days to get a full refund, after that we wouldn't get one. Well the first three days all we did was play name games and personally test and didn't do anything fitness related, so we were all pretty much sucked in. It wasn't until a couple weeks after that, that I realized this place wasn't anything like what they claim to be. I mean look at the reviews, EVERY review on here is bad apart from the employees. And give me a break, you can't write good reviews on your own business, especially five stars. YOU don't attend, you aren't the ones trying to learn and build a career, if the students say this place sucks then this place sucks! And for you to write a review saying people should look at your own website to see what students actually think is a load of crap, you're contradicting what you taught us in class just a few weeks ago. "If you want to try a new supplement don't read the reviews from their own website or any website affiliated with them because they will all be good reviews for advertisement." Well good thing google is affiliated with NPTI because we can actually write the truth about this place. If you're seriously going to sit at your desk and read the google reviews on here and say that all the students that wrote this are wrong and that there is nothing wrong with your school then you really are a scam artist, and you're the worst kind of scam artist out there. The other students and I came to this place because we have a passion for fitness, I mean there is nothing else I can do or want to do in the world other than become a personal trainer and help people. And you've kept me from that dream for months now, actually I would say even a year since it was a year ago that I started saving up for your school and to move to Colorado! Phil, if you actually care about any of us you have screwed over or any of the ones that plan on attending your school in the future I say you shut down the school and work on your gym for the next few years until you've figured out how to make this place better for students who are trying to get an education.

This place is a SCAM!1
by: Anonymous

I can't even begin to fathom how much of a waste of time and money this place was, it was a huge fraud. Don't be tricked into spending over seven thousand dollars for NPTI Colorado (I don't know about the other NPTI's because they're not affiliated with each other) If you want and education then get a degree, if you want a certification then you'll never have to spend more than a thousand to do so, if you want to be scammed out of 7000+ and hardly learn a thing, then NPTI Colorado is the place for you.

by: Anonymous

I don't work at NPTI. I went there. They definitely need someone with a long education background to help them with the curriculum. They need to truly listen to the feed back. There are organization and other issues. However, the list of skills and knowledge you can add to your resume is pretty good. You are hurting your own accreditation by these reviews. Send a professional letter to the owner. Try other avenues. You make everyone else think badly of NPTI and THAT makes the $7 brand a waste.

Horrible place in general
by: Anonymous

I am an employee at NPTI and I can tell you that Phil and Jenn are both people of little character and care very little about your opinions or about how to give you your moneys worth of education. Material for class literally is made up on the spot and the poor instructors have very little time to prepare for class. There is a reason there is such a high turnover rate at NPTI and it is because Phil is simply a man that wants your money. Letters to the owner of this business will do nothing because as long as people are willing to put money in his pocket, he thinks he is in the clear. It should also be known that it has recently come to my attention that the accredited status of this school is in question due to the unethical nature of the way Phil and Jenn do business. Needless to say, this comment will have Phil open up his own personal witch hunt to fire anyone who disagrees with him.
