Running a Fitness Boot Camp

by Wasiah
(Atlanta, GA)

I am newly trained & new to the business. I reside 20-30 minutes from downtown Atlanta in a small yet growing community of professionals and it just so happens that in my area there are no "advertised" boot camps being held.

I spoke with the coordinator of the parks & recs in my county and she is very excited about me possibly starting a camp. It is 80/20 which I love and I have numerous parks to choose from, what I love about the county is that they do not allow two people to offer the same thing.

My question(s) is/are what is the difference between a regular strength class & a boot camp. I know boot camp are expected to be more challenging and exciting changing up daily but what else is different?? Is it a "if you can teach a class you can run a camp" theory?? Also what are the best ways to advertise a camp aside from the rec center website/flyers?? Is "fitness" camp a better title or are people drawn to the "boot camp" title experience?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Wasiah

Hi Wasiah,
Have you thought about franchising a Boot Camp? Operation Boot Camp was on CNN on Friday and they offer franchising opportunities and are based in the Atlanta area.

by: Sonja (Success Fitness)

I have been in the Fitness Industry for 17 years now and own Success Fitness Inc. You can check out my website www.successfitness.ca for ongoing education as a trainer! One of the workshops I teach is the BootCamp Workshop, which will teach you all about starting up your own BootCamp's, how much to charge, marketing and great stuff on intensity, materials used in a group setting! If you are intersted check out my site and email me with any questions you may have! You can do the Workshop on line and I can send you the manual per mail!
I love teaching BootCamps, it gives my client's an extra kick in the behind, it's less then 1-on-1 training, but you will earn more...everyone wins!
