Connecticut Personal Trainer Certification

While the choices are still limited in Connecticut, people seeking personal training education still have a few viable choices. Everything from weekend workshop crash courses (emphasis on the crash!), to 6 month diplomas, to full blown exercise science degrees.

So let's take a look at your options for Connecticut personal trainer certification.

A good middle of the road option is NPTI's 500 hour training program. With 23 schools around the United States, NPTI has a widely respected curriculum. In fact, most NPTI trainers already have a job even before they take the certification exam. So if you are anywhere near the Stamford area, NPTI should definitely be on your short list of possibilities.

Another option to consider is an online program. These programs can be taken from anywhere and will help prepare you for various accredited certification exams. Two popular choices are Penn Foster (a short and cheap option at $500) and the full diploma available through Pinnacle (which comes with a corresponding price tag).

In my humble opinion, Penn Foster is not quite enough, Pinnacle is a little too much, and NPTI is just right. But of course that would all change if you are not near Stamford CT.
